| Introduction | nickel chloride dimethoxyethane is an organic intermediate that can be prepared by reacting NiCl2 with DME. It has been reported in the literature to be useful in the preparation of chiral α-arylpropionic acid ester compounds and β-arylamines. |
| preparation | NiCl2 (100g,771.6 mmol) dissolve in a mixture of 300 mL of methanol and 50 mL of trimethyl orthoformate and stir at reflux overnight. after completion of the reaction, unreacted NiCl2 was removed by filtration, and 80% of the solution was removed under reduced pressure to obtain a green gel. This was dissolved in minimal methanol and 300 mL DME was added. The solution was stirred at reflux overnight. A yellow powder of nickel chloride dimethoxyethane was precipitated and isolated by cannula filtration. The powder was washed with pentane and dried under a stream of nitrogen. |
